iOS Update 1.2.8 is Live

iOS update 1.2.8 is here, with new content, bug fixes and more. Here’s what’s new: 

  • New level cap: 85;
  • Added new gear: Bandit's Shank, Odin's Plate, Soldier's Cap and Holy Relic;
  • Added new items: Recover Scroll, Magic Ticket and Throwing Axes;
  • Added new skills: Throw Power and Holy Magic;
  • Added new spell: Ninjitsu (skill name has been changed to "Ninja Training");
  • Adjusted prices on some items and gear to normalize pricing structure;
  • Changed skill names for clarity and added required skill trees; players should not lose any current skill points invested but may need to unlock "earlier" skills to add more points;
  • Added new attributes for thrown weapons, damage types, and autohit/autoattack spells;
  • Fixed issue with rare monsters not spawning;
  • Altered magic missile to ignore static objects;
  • Updated iCloud Sync confirmation window to help clarify data that will be restored;
  • Made some "behind the scenes" tweaks to code and UI

  1. Alright, so I updated to 1.2.8 and had a long run. At first, I was thrilled once I got past Castle VIII without crashing, where it used to crash at the 7,500m mark consistently, and I got to the Lich at the end of the 8th loop and defeated him. Unfortunately, right after beating him, the game crashed at the map before loading the 9th loop :( While I also didn't lose all of my gold, I lost a significant chunk of it. I had the damage numbers turned off for this entire run too, which may have contributed to the game making it past the 7,500m mark, but was surprised that it decided to crap out right after Dark Castle VIII when there was nothing on the screen. So, some more work for you guys to be done there.

    Other things I've noticed with this patch:

    -With Odin's Plate, the Auto Lighting barely procs; in my 8 loop run, it proc'd maybe 3 times total. By contrast, whenever I have the Lunar Robe equipped, the Auto Meteor procs far more often even though they're both a 1% auto proc rate
    -The weapon enchant spell effect is still permanent once cast. This makes killing enemies with magic resistance, like the red slimes, a pain in the arse with melee attacks, especially in the later loops.
    -Lich's eye lasers still don't do any damage
    -Holy still seems to have occasional issues proc'ing

    Other than those, it seems most of the other little bugs have been worked out. But I hope at some point there will be a permanent fix to the game crashing out randomly.

    1. Thanks, Alex! We've had a couple of people say this about Odin's Plate, but yeah, percentage is the same. Going forward, autospell procs on attack with weapons and on hit (that is, enemy hits you) on armor. I don't think it's set up that way on Lunar Robes and I think that's why. We'll have a look at the other issues, too. We're doing our best to stay on top of this stuff but we're neck-deep in content mode for 2.0. The good news is our code pool is deeper, which should hopefully give us some more resources for that stuff!

    2. I have so much questions!!;) when the witch attacks me and my mana gets drained does it also count as a hit!? And when im poisoned does each hp that geta drained count as 1 hit?! Does it also count as a hit when i dodge an attack or block an attack?! Or does being attacked mean that HP gets drained?

    3. Now when you maxed Sorceror'surplus and gladiator's gift the icon will be purple and you get the bonus... GREAT
    4. Yeti still bugged sometime

    6. Lich's Laser eyes still bugged, do not damage
    7. 5 days ??? Yesterday i was at 60% today already at 60%
    8. Odin's Plate NEVER auto-lightning
    9. Odin's Plate does not affect lightning orb
    10. You nerfed lightning orb, now the dmg is too low and the cost too high
    11. I cannot pass Purple+4 game always crash
    12. Horizontal line after you finished a stage or when you die
    Now some suggestions:
    - You already nerfed Holy (before maxed lv 5 did much more dmg), please dont nerf also Lightning. Balace the cost of the two new spell so we have more choices for magic build.
    - Restored the +50 dmg of the Mysterious Mask for balance a physical build
    - Add an animal that increase the critical dmg, critical chance and dmg for balance physical build
    - Add an animal that increase the charge dmg, charge critical chance and charge size to create a charge build
    - Add other accessory or animals that allow to reach the max size casting only one berseker to balance physical build
    - Restyling the UI to show us the secret attributes like sorceror orb give you - cast time, +100 mp, + secret 15 int
    - What's about acid rain? Do you change something?
    I havent try yet

    1. Hey thanks for the summary of all the abilities and changes! One thing that i really do not understand is the gladiator and soccerors gift... How can i max out the two?! I'm level 85 with odin and lichs demise and im trying to collect the other weapons and armors but nothing changes when does the gladiator and soccerers gift get purple? I beg you to explain it :)
      And youre right odin does not cast lighning and i really spent much time in purchasing it...

    2. It was easy for me to take odin plate only one big run of 850k money :D
      Btw if you buy ALL the magic and maxed them to level 6 your sorcerors become purple.
      For gladiator iam waiting for the new weapon and the weapon of 5 days. My gladiator is still gold :(

    3. how do you get a run with 850k?! what equipment are u using?:D so i will have to max out my spells... and for gladiators i need ALL weapons and armor?! do you also have problems with the 5 consecutive days? mine is stuck at 40%-.-

    4. I think that 5 days is 22H x 5 of the game time!
      Im stuck on 60%
      I use magic build with dragon mall and dragon that allow you to gain more gold. Moreover it is all more easy with rare monster :D

    5. Something is definitely up with the consecutive days achievement, everyone. It's working during testing, working for some players, and others are getting different results. Andrea, you're stuck at 60%, for example, but I haven't gotten past 20%. We're not sure what's up but we're looking into it.

  3. Hi, sometimes the slime boss (boss 3) bugs: This boss becomes stuck at 0 hp if i kill it with a spell and i cannot progress further and need to quit the game.

    1. Hi... hihi? :) We've had some reports of this and are investigating but haven't been able to discern what's going on just yet. If you have an opportunity, turn debug text on, and if you have it happen again, take a couple of screen captures? You can send those to us via our Facebook page. Could be helpful!

  4. It seems some accessory and maybe some weapons/chest piece give more than two bonuses. Is there any way to know what equipement gives more than two bonuses and what those bonuses are?

    Also, am I right to think the 1% chance to cast X skill work on tap for weapons and on receiving hits for armors?
    If so, how does it work for accessories?

    2. Ramza, most gear pieces have only two attributes since the UI is only able to display two. That said, there are a couple of pieces with "stealth" stats. They are *very* rare, so I wouldn't get too worked up about finding them, but they are there. We actually make an effort not to do that, for what it's worth.

      If you're curious about stats, builds, etc. I highly suggest checking out the Dash Quest subreddit. Some pretty hardcore folks over there and a lot of conversations about builds, gear, etc.

  5. Thanks dev team for the game. Still has a lot of bugs to be fixed like the odin plate not procing too much, the progress/health bar not showing, etc..but overall it's a great game with the retro look!

    1. Hi, Didim! We'll have a look at Odin's Plate, but the percentage should be correct. It *does* proc on hit, not attack, so in the early going, at least, it shouldn't proc that often.

    2. Read your reply also on the reddit page, so this is based on the equipment type?
      Weapon = procs on attack
      Armor = procs on getting hit or hitting enemies?
      Will try to observe that again in my future runs

  6. Play 5 consecutive days is still 40% It didn't increase. How I complete this achievement?
    And the achievements have 36/38 but can't see any quest.

  9. Guys sonething seems not quite right! With my odin plate i get 2500 DPS... When i switch to the cheap training suit (the green one) i get 3200DPS what is wrong with the Armor?!

  10. Dear tinytitan, first of all thanks for the amazing game you have peoduced for us :)

    I have been having some problems lately though, mostly crashes due to an overload of the cpu of my phone i believe, whenever i hit the 6tg loop around second and above bosses my phone will freeze and crash. I'm currently on an iphone 4. I think this is partly because of the build i use and partly because the overload of things to process, i usually have around 1-5 fps whenever i get past the second loop and loads of monsters spawn. (The build i use involves sprint and holy and blade ring, allows for great rushes and good fast runs but it crashes my game often and the build stacks mobs so if you're holy in on cooldown you'll take loads of damage) i was wondering if you guys knew any way to fix the issue

    1. I wiuld recommend to change your phone:D this may sound stupid but an iphone4 is no longer supplied eith updates and the coming games will be not fitting your device!:) so the crashing seems for me a reason of the laking GPU insode ya iphone4...:/

  11. You guys should incorporate the bosses health numbers just like you do with the rest of the monsters, it would be good to know for when the bosses health is low and you can't see the metre anymore because of the head figure covering the left side of the bar.

    1. Darian, I actually made this suggestion myself. There are times when boss bars get *verrrrrrrrry* low but the boss still, mathematically, has health. The team doesn't feel super strongly about implementing it right now, but if there's enough noise from the community, who knows?

    2. Yes is very annoying that seems that lich hasnt enough life instead you have to cast an entire thunder....
      Why dont you add something that indicates that the boss is near to death?
      When it is real close to death it turn red and normal red and normal like wjen it dead or something similar to this

  12. Will you guys ever expand the game to a point where there are multiple differnet bosses for each wave, a completely randomized (tier one bosses tier two and etc) and for each level one of that tiered boss will appear?

    1. We're looking at pretty much anything we can do to grow the game; I know we've discussed adding a "boss rush" mode, which isn't quite what you're talking about here, but would allow you battle bosses in waves.

      We're absolutely still learning a lot as we continue working on DQ, and we'll be the first to admit that. We have tons of ideas and part of the challenge is that we're continuing to pile stuff on to a framework that wasn't really built to support those ideas. The question is just really whether those ideas get used in DQ or in a future project instead.

  13. Firstly let me say - great game! I get bored of games on IOS very quickly but have stuck at this one and love it.

    I have donated around £60 in IAP and had a few questions or suggestions:

    -gold if bought on one character why can't this be used across all 3? Would help keep the game interesting as I have a level 85 magic based character and wanted to try a more brute force type character but it's a slog starting again.

    -level cap I am 85 and maxed out so the game has halted for me. What I find curious is that I gain xp that ultimately is being lost. Could it not be made that you gain more gold at the level cap rather than xp to make runs worthwhile? I spend a ton on pots but do not make much gold. Also would be good to still be able to earn skill points at the level cap.

    -new content this is an obvious one but please introduce more content! The game is great but I can't play much anymore as it's almost been completed in its current state!

      Per the gold question, I don't really have a response beyond "it was a design decision". We're beholden to a lot of the choices made early on. It's an interesting suggestion (sort of like Glimmer in 'Destiny' being available account-wide) and I'll take it back to the team.

      Appreciate all the feedback, really. We're doing our best to keep going on content and new ways to delivering it to all of you. Next update definitely has a major level bump that'll hopefully keep you going for a bit, as well.

    1. Hi, Sharky. Unfortunately, not. We don't have any sort of global Cloud storage system at this point. We've recently added iCloud support on iOS so that an old game from an Apple device can be restored on a new Apple device, but nothing cross-platform. Sorry.

  15. When is the new update :D I can't wait for more big updates! I'm having so much fun with this game but I pretty much beat the game at this point. You guy are doing such a good job on this game I love it! And may I suggest a mode where you can pay a fee to enter a mode where you keep killing bosses to earn money without going through the waves. This way people with high level can grind money this way and it will only be worth it if you can kill enough bosses to cover the cost of the entry fee. Keep up the good work and good luck developing this game!:)

    Let me explane
    I bought the doble xp thing and its lv me FAST
    And becuze am lv max its fell boring
    So if you can make an uptade of lv and more skill.
    For skill like : 3 green point (of wen we lv up) for a 1% of lighiting, meteor etc
    Or 6 (cuz its op)
    And a % add on the bost of your armor or sword
    ( so its not an desigion on what is the best)

  20. There are currently 4 issues with the game, I'm a loop x+(10+) player..:

    1) The game becomes incredibly laggy and crashes whenever I reach loop 10 due to the high mob density and multicast spells. Hence I missed grabbing the no.1 rank on numerous attempts(15,500+m per full run).

    2) Sometimes the slime king does not die, even if you have killed it. The game just stays there and you are forced to give up, which is rather annoying.

    3)There is a weird bug which happened to me on a few attempts, I was doing a normal run when all of a sudden I began to take damage (17+) without being hit by mobs, it ended up as a "d.o.t" damage on me and I need to heal regularly even though I'm not being hit by mobs, but the main problem is that players can take damage while they are in the map screen(click to continue to next stage), if I were to afk for too long, I will die instantly at the start of the next map.

    4) The leave game option is still buggy at times, when I click "yes" the game freezes until a long period of time before the player actually dies in game.

  22. What does the bear do I have him equipped and use the ability but don't see him do anything except jump or something like that, the game says he protects the hero I also tried using it while getting attacked. I must be blind.
